WALMART

Wally World Garden

Insight: Walmart shoppers want everyday solutions that make climate action accessible and simple. As a retailer, it’s up to Walmart to make that a reality.

Idea: Announce Walmart’s new sustainable outreach program, centered on using up-cycling to bring communities together.

Execution: In an effort to display Walmart’s sustainability efforts, Walmart is going to head its first community garden. Customers will be asked to bring in old water bottles that can be up-cycled and made into planters and decorative walls for the gardens to make gardening fun.

The real fun part comes with a yearly competition. Walmart will ask local stores garden communities to come up with ideas of  giant sized “Chia Pets” that will be showcased in each store. These giant sized chia pets will be designed from up-cycled crates, and other large plastics recycled by Walmart. The winning designs will receive a special green card for their sustainability efforts.

Product Design:

Those who volunteer will not see their efforts go unnoticed. Depending on how much a customer either volunteers with their time, or with their recycling efforts, they will receive a Walmart Green Card. Granting anywhere from 10-25% off purchases throughout the year, and for those who help garden, get free fresh produce, because being sustainable is not only fun but pays off too.
